Though a capable fighting game overall, All-Star Brawl's lack of presentation and polish, including an initial absence of voice acting, made the game seem devoid of personality. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was the first of these contemporary challengers and wasted no time trying to fill Ultimate’s shoes, releasing in October 2021, the same month Smash received its final DLC character. Despite its shaky start, there were some aspects that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl did better than Smash Bros., like its brawl-focused gameplay. stumbled out of the gate with an all-around, competent game, but one that severely lacked in presentation and content. The lack of an active player base has rendered Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl nearly unplayable in online matches on Steam.
